About Me.
My name is Madison Burns, and I am currently a senior biomedical science and enterprise major at Georgia State University, with minors in non-profit leadership and educational psychology. My research focuses on creating a hands-on dental training program designed to expose prospective dental students to essential biomedical science concepts, such as dental anatomy, biomaterials, and microbiology. The program offers supervised practice with basic dental instruments, and I am evaluating its impact on students' learning outcomes. Specifically, I am exploring how interactive, tool-based learning influences students’ understanding of dental anatomy and biomaterials, as well as how hands-on experiences impact their confidence, proficiency, and basic dental skills.

Education
2017-2019
Dual Enrollment
Chattahoochee Technical College
I completed 42 credits through dual enrollment, balancing college-level coursework with my high school studies. This opportunity allowed me to earn college credits while still in high school, accelerating my academic progress and gaining a deeper understanding of various subjects. The experience taught me how to manage my time effectively, work independently, and handle the demands of higher education at an early age.
2019-2025
Biomedical Science and Enterprise
Minors: Non-Profit Leadership
Educational Psychology
Georgia State University
I am currently a senior at Georgia State University, majoring in Biomedical Science and Enterprise with minors in Non-Profit Leadership and Educational Psychology. Throughout my academic journey, I have remained highly active in leadership and community service. I was a key founder of the Biomedical Science Club, served as the president of the American Undergraduate Dental Association, and also hold the position of president of Sistaz of Medicine. Additionally, I have dedicated over 1,000 hours to community service, contributing to both educational and dental settings, where I focus on empowering others and expanding access to resources.
2025-2026
Master's in Biomedical Sciences
Barry University
I am pursuing a Master's in Health Sciences to further prepare myself for dental school. This advanced degree will deepen my understanding of health-related topics, enhance my academic foundation, and provide me with the necessary skills to excel in dental school. By broadening my knowledge in areas such as biomedical sciences and healthcare, I aim to become a more well-rounded candidate and strengthen my ability to contribute to the dental field.
Dental Experiences
President & Vice President
After the challenges of Covid, my classmate Raquez Martin and I were determined to reignite this vital organization on campus. In just two months, we grew our membership from 30 to 160, creating a vibrant and supportive community for pre-dental students. Our goal was to cultivate connections, share resources, and uplift each other on our journey to becoming dental professionals!
Accomplishments:
-
Helped more than 35 students gain admission to dental school.
-
Assisted students with scholarships to support their undergraduate degree; exceeding $10,000.
-
Awarded the Royal Flame Largest Outstanding On-Campus Program, for our Pre-Medical Mixer; where we hosted 30 local dentist's to network and connect with our members.
-
Successfully managed a $20,000 budget for Georgia State University student groups, enabling programs and travel initiatives.
IDID Scholar

In 2022, I had the privilege of joining the IDID non-profit organization as a Pre-dental scholar. My journey began with the IDID Summit, an event where over 20 dental schools from across the country gather to connect with and educate pre-dental students. This experience was a turning point for me, as it was the moment I realized that my dream of becoming a dentist was not only achievable, but that I had the support and resources to make it a reality. Over the past three years, IDID has continued to connect me with admissions directors and dentists nationwide, offering valuable exposure and opportunities within the dental field.
Experiences:
-
Attended The Student National Dental Association convention in New Orleans, where I was able to network with over 30 dental schools, dental students, and dentists.
-
Attended Tufts Pre-dental
-
Recieved various travel awards and DAT prep resources

Recieved 1 on 1 dental application assistance
Education
I had an amazing experience as the Lead ELA Summer School Teacher at 3dGirls Inc. in Atlanta, GA, during the 2024 summer camp. I had the pleasure of teaching rising 3rd-8th grade girls over a four-week period, where we focused on building strong reading skills through an innovative, science-based framework. Working alongside other instructors, we created an engaging and educational environment that not only supported academic success but also promoted social-emotional learning. It was incredibly rewarding to see the growth and enthusiasm in the students as they gained new skills and confidence in their abilities. This experience truly reinforced my passion for teaching and empowering young learners.

Founder
I had the privilege of founding the Biomedical Science Student Alliance (BSSA) at Georgia State University, a student-led organization dedicated to fostering a sense of community among students in the Institute for Biomedical Science. Our mission is to support the development of future STEM professionals by providing real-world experience, valuable resources, and guidance for navigating an interdisciplinary degree in Science and Medicine. The organization also promotes networking opportunities to help students thrive in both undergraduate and research-related roles. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience to create a platform that supports and empowers students pursuing careers in the biomedical sciences.
